Changes to N.J. civil service system would hurt vets, some say

Former service members would have a harder time landing public-sector jobs under proposed changes to the New Jersey civil service system, according to veterans' advocates. The proposal could eliminate a program that bars managers from passing over a veteran for a nonveteran or a disabled veteran for a nondisabled veteran, critics say.
