Early formula use may promote breast-feeding among at-risk babies

U.S. researchers looked at 40 babies who lost at least 5% of their weight in their initial 36 hours of life and found that 79% of those who were given limited formula were exclusively breast-fed at 3 months compared with 42% of babies who continued exclusive breast-feeding. The findings appear in the journal Pediatrics.
