Hagel: U.S. defense network in Middle East is key to countering Iran

The U.S. is committed to maintaining a strong defense network in the Middle East to counter Iranian nuclear ambitions, Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel said last week. Resources currently deployed in the region include radar systems, mine countermeasures and F-22 jet fighters. "A robust U.S. military presence in the Persian Gulf has been a priority" for the Defense Department, Hagel said.
