McDonald's recently said it may try offering its popular breakfast menu all day in a push to boost sales, while Wendy's has pulled back from the morning meal after several starts that failed to catch on company-wide. Strong coffee brands and sandwiches have proven key to building breakfast business, which has grown to a $50 billion category and accounts for about 25% of McDonald's total sales.
