Schoolwide behavioral programs improve climate for one Pa. school

Pittsburgh Faison Primary School in Homewood, Pa., is addressing its disciplinary problems by using a combination of two programs -- Success Schools and Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports. The system includes having teachers use the same set of rules and expectations -- and spend the first six days of school teaching them -- while following up with additional lessons throughout the year, and participating in assemblies to celebrate students' successes.
