Survey: Half of medical residents report wrong cause of death

About half of New York City medical residents surveyed reported they knowingly entered an incorrect cause of death on death certificates, according to a report in the journal Preventing Chronic Disease. The survey showed 54% said they could not list what they believed to be the correct cause of death after receiving guidance from the hospital's admitting department.
