Is the writing on the wall for cursive in Ontario?

Some educators in Ontario, Canada, say that cursive instruction is still part of the Grade 3 curriculum, but they say it is getting less emphasis in the digital age. However, some say there are benefits to handwriting instruction, such as the development of fine motor skills and research showing that writing could stimulate brain activity. Others, however, say handwriting is becoming increasingly unnecessary because of technology.
