Michael Sam is first openly gay played selected in NFL draft

The St. Louis Rams on Saturday selected University of Missouri defensive end Michael Sam as the 249th pick of the National Football League draft, making him the first openly gay player ever drafted into the league. "I knew I was going to get picked somewhere. Every team that passed me, I was thinking how I'm going to sack their quarterback," Sam said. Many public figures praised the draft pick, including President Barack Obama.
