One-third of hit British TV shows have never had a female director

Of the 142 most-popular British television series, nearly one-third have never used a female director, according to analysis from Directors UK. Some recognizable shows on the list include "Luther," "Benidorm" and "The Inbetweeners." The only genre that had equal numbers of women and men directors was factual programming, but even then women tended to direct food, health or home subjects.
