Senate bill aims to boost Social Security benefits for same-sex couples

The Senate is considering a bill that aims to ensure that same-sex couples have access to Social Security benefits such as survivor and retirement benefits regardless of which state they live in. ZIP code "should not determine whether or not your family will have the means to survive after the death of a spouse," said Sen. Patty Murray, D-Wash., who introduced the bill last week.
