Survey: Many pre-retirees are fearful of catastrophic events

Many Americans approaching retirement with assets of $200,000 or more worry that they will outlive their savings or that an unexpected event will disrupt their retirement, according to a survey by Legg Mason. "As a result, we encourage financial advisers and investors to take a realistic approach when planning for retirement," said Matthew Schiffman, a Legg Mason managing director.
