Feds, states focus on food safety

Food safety has become a government priority since numerous Americans were sickened after eating contaminated foods in recent months. The Massachusetts Department of Public Health considers food-borne illness one of the state's main public-health threats, and Dr. David Acheson, the new U.S. food-safety czar, plans to "revisit the whole system in terms of ensuring the safety and security of [our food supply]."
