ExxonMobil faces suit over Louisiana emissions

The Louisiana Environmental Action Network is suing ExxonMobil, arguing that the oil giant's Scenic Highway chemical plant has released 89,700 pounds more air pollution than is allowed by its permit; the group also says ExxonMobil released emissions -- including propylene, ethylene and flammable vapors -- that aren't covered by the permit. A spokeswoman with ExxonMobil Baton Rouge said the company self-reported the incidents in the lawsuit and takes its compliance responsibilities seriously.
