ECB shows no intention to tighten monetary policy soon

The European Central Bank said interest "rates remain appropriate" and that it expects "moderate" inflation to continue. The bank's statement indicates that it is unlikely to increase rates in the near term. Last week, the ECB held its benchmark interest rate at 1%, a record low, then became part of an effort to keep Greece's fiscal woes from spreading by buying government bonds.
