L.A. retail center is planning $30M upgrade, multi-use expansion

The owners of Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza in south Los Angeles are planning a $30 million upgrade of the center -- followed by the development of a hotel, office and residential component. "It's critical this mall go from a C level to an A," said Ken Lombard, a partner at Capri Capital Partners, which owns the 43-acre property. The expansion needs city approval, but Capri plans to begin the renovations soon.
