Scientists: Cigarette butts can stop steel pipe corrosion

Nine toxic chemicals found in cigarette butts can protect steel pipes from corroding, according to Chinese scientists. Pipe corrosion is a particular problem for the oil industry. Recycling the 4.5 trillion cigarette butts tossed annually and putting the toxic waste to work could help solve that problem.
