Scientists probe turtle, dolphin deaths for links to oil slick

Researchers are investigating the deaths of 117 sea turtles and at least six dolphins that recently were found along the Gulf Coast. While the deaths are being looked at as potential casualties of the recent oil spill in the region, initial necropsies found no visible traces of oil tainting. "So far we have not seen any relationship with the deaths of either the turtles or the dolphins to oil," said one scientist, who added that the oil's impact will soon become evident on the dolphin population.
