Don't assume failure is inevitable

Conventional wisdom is that innovation success comes to those who aren't afraid to fail, but not all companies buy into that idea. ADP invests heavily in carefully assigned projects that have a high probability of yielding marketable products within a few months, says executive Michael Capone. "People say in order to innovate you have to fail," Capone adds. "Well, my CEO doesn't buy that."
