Feds examine Medicare-reimbursed inpatient hospice LOS

The HHS Office of Inspector General is investigating whether the lengths of stay for inpatient hospice care paid for by Medicare are appropriate. Data showed LOS for one-third of Medicare patients exceeded five days and 11% had stays of 10 days or more.
