Student-debt issue goes beyond private loans, some say

Pace Bradshaw, CBA's vice president of congressional affairs, is among observers arguing that the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau needs to focus on systemic problems with the student-loan crisis instead of targeting private lenders. "The bigger picture is that private student loans are very much a small part of the market and [private lenders'] loans perform significantly better," Bradshaw said.
