Fla. district hires coaches to train new special-ed teachers

A Florida school district will hire coaches to train 50 to 60 new special-education teachers in a four-week summer program. Through a partnership with the nonprofit The New Teacher Project, participants will spend a week in professional-development classes and then be mentored as they work with students attending summer academic programs. "We need our strongest teachers in front of our most struggling students," said Lisa Grant, Pinellas County district's Exceptional Student Education executive director.
