N.C. HHS executes data-sharing agreement to track Medicaid payments, boost care

The North Carolina Health Information Exchange Data Use Agreement was recently signed by the state's Department of Health and Human Services in order to comply with the North Carolina Health Care Cost Reduction Transparency Act of 2013, which mandates that state hospitals must participate in the HIE and submit information about health services that they have submitted for Medicaid reimbursement. In addition to tracking Medicaid payments, the bill is expected to enhance patient care by cutting clinical errors and drug side effects.
