Sweden has emerged as a powerhouse in pop music and a breeding ground for successful companies such as IKEA, H&M and Spotify while using an economic model that uses relatively high tax rates to provide a social safety net for its citizens. In general, the country embraces the idea of "a comfortable life in general, that everyone has a right to a high standard of living," according to Ola Johansson, a geographer at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown.
