Agents, GDSs bearing brunt of fallout from airfare wars

Low-cost airlines started turning up the heat on traditional carriers just as Internet booking took off, and the resulting drive to cut costs left agents and GDSs holding the bag, the Financial Times reports. Legacy airlines are increasingly turning to alternative content access platforms such as G2 SwitchWorks, which charge lower booking fees but may offer access to fewer suppliers.
