Feds appear likely to approve Delta, Northwest deal

The former chairman of the House aviation subcommittee added his support yesterday to the proposed merger of Delta Air Lines and Northwest Airlines. While Democrats warned the deal could lead to job losses and service reductions, Rep. John Mica, R-Fla., denied that the creation of the world's largest airline would be anti-competitive and predicted the merger will be approved by federal regulators.
