Leavitt promotes use of EMRs, again

A "network of networks" of EMRs will enable patients to assess the quality of providers and will help push down costs, according to HHS Secretary Michael Leavitt. "The personal health record begins to put in place the piece that the individual needs to manage their health information, just like they manage their finances or their banking or other personal records," said Patricia Sodomka, director of the Center for Patient- and Family-Centered Care at the Medical College of Georgia.
