Senate clears farm bill

The Senate voted 81-15 in favor of a five-year, $307 billion farm bill that would allow the extension of federal subsidies for agricultural producers. The legislation received broad bipartisan backing and gained more than the two-thirds majority necessary to override President George W. Bush's promised veto.
