Survey finds Hawaii most expensive state to vacation

At a price tag of nearly $800 per day for food and lodging for two adults, Hawaii was found to be the most expensive state in which to take a vacation by a AAA survey. The daily budget for Hawaiian visitors was more than three times the national average, AAA said. Hawaii's tourism officials said the estimate was significantly inflated. Marsha Wienert, a tourism liaison for the state, said daily expenditures for tourists in Hawaii have averaged about $358 for a couple.
