Texas district may screen all athletes for cardiac abnormalities

After several Houston-area student athletes died from sudden cardiac arrest, a cardiologist is helping one school district screen each ninth-grade athlete for signs of heart abnormalities by the 2009-2010 school year. A $1 million Texas pilot program will include the screening of 4,500 sixth-graders.
