SEC proposes rules governing investment advisers

Investment advisers who hold money and assets on behalf of their clients would be subject to consumer-protection rules under a proposal by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. The regulator is responding to concerns that it is too easy for advisers to conceal misuse of clients' funds by giving them false account statements.
