Verizon Wireless lays out LTE specs to developers

Verizon Wireless has set higher power requirements to run applications on the Long-Term Evolution network it plans to deploy late next year, but the carrier's LTE specifications mostly jibe with those set out by the industry's standards body, the telecom told developers. Verizon Wireless said it would run LTE as an open-source network and support an IP version of the SMS texting protocol using its new IP multimedia system framework.
