Opinion: STEM's importance must reach every youth in U.S.

Children are not being encouraged to learn more about math and science -- to tinker, dream and innovate, writes Dean Kamen, founder of a program that inspires students to pursue higher education and a career in science and technology. "[A]s our technological prestige falls, it will become more and more difficult for the [U.S.] to sustain its economic competitiveness and wealth generation," he notes, adding that STEM's importance "must be heard loud and clear in every classroom across this nation."
