AkzoNobel to reduce emissions through algae-based tailored oils

AkzoNobel has reached an agreement with Solazyme on producing tailored oils from algae rather than petroleum. The move could reduce AkzoNobel's per-ton emissions in surface chemistry and decorative paints by as much as 30% by 2020 compared with last year.
