Mitsui, Celanese reach $800 million methanol partnership

Celanese and Mitsui have agreed to form a joint venture that will use Celanese's Clear Lake, Texas, complex to produce methanol. The plant, which could produce 1.3 million tons of methanol annually, is expected to cost about $800 million. The facility's output is mostly slated for U.S. consumption.
