Smart-grid standard for homes gets the green light

The Smart Energy Profile 2 standard promises to help with the management of smart-grid devices used in home environments. The standard encompasses utility communications to devices, energy control and data. "We look forward to the certification of a wide range of interoperable SEP 2 products, helping utilities and consumers manage energy consumption efficiently," said Edgar Figueroa, president and chairman of the Consortium for Smart Energy Profile 2 Interoperability, which developed the standard.
