Smarter greens practices lessen environmental impact

Golf course managers are planting more heat-loving turf and expanding natural areas to cut down on the environmental impact. "The variety of grasses, trees, shrubs and water features found in the out-of-play areas create naturalized places that provide excellent food and nesting habitat for wildlife on the property," said Kimberly Erusha of the United States Golf Association.
