Wyndham lawsuit sparks questions about cybersecurity

A lawsuit filed by the Federal Trade Commission last year against Wyndham Worldwide for a string of cybersecurity breaches could lead to a court-defined scope of the agency's powers and has attracted the attention of several business groups, including the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. The lawsuit alleges the hotel chain did not provide adequate data security, leaving customers' payment card numbers insecure. However, the company said it never received guidance from the FTC on security practices.
