New mobile, native and video units are revolutionizing Web advertising and the traditional banner ad, which is more than 10 years old, writes Peter Minnium. The shift is finally occurring because publishers are recognizing that they can sell ads throughout their Web pages, and not just on the frame, he writes, adding, "The domination of the banner at the page margins will take time to weaken, but it is clear that it is just a matter of time before it fades to oblivion."
