The Florida Hurricane Catastrophe Fund is estimated to have grown to almost $13 billion, making the state confident for this year's hurricane season. The state fund, meant to assist private insurers in paying out storm-related claims, has largely been untapped since 2005, the last time the state was hit by a hurricane.
