House OKs $4.4 Billion In Additional Transportation Funds

The House May 14 voted to reinstate the $4.4 billion in highway funding that President Bush had proposed to cut, reports say. The House then pushed a $27.7 billion transportation proposal on to the Senate. The Transportation Committee reportedly estimates the additional $4.4 billion equals over 165,000 new jobs to work on road and bridge projects.
