School Reform Commission Cautiously Stands Behind Edison

Philadelphia School Reform Commission chairman James Nevels yesterday said he remains optimistic about a plan to cede management of 20 schools to Edison Schools, which has had financial struggles. However, Nevels said the final contract with Edison is likely to include safeguards to limit academic disruptions should the company fall into a hole.
