Groups issue new heart disease prevention guidelines

The American Heart Association and American College of Cardiology have issued new heart disease prevention guidelines amid strong evidence that heart patients can avoid second heart attacks or strokes with intensive treatment. The guidelines call for more routine use of high-potency statins to lower LDL and for expanded use of drugs to lower blood pressure.
