Renewed interest seen in vaccine R&D

Startup biotech Genocea is researching proteins that stimulate a person's immune system to develop inexpensive vaccines for diseases such as HIV, malaria or tuberculosis. Genocea's co-founder says the process would be "a major breakthrough." Social, technological and economic changes have led to a resurgence in vaccine R&D that continues to face some challenges but holds much promise.
