Defense contract spurs job growth in Florida

A $300 million Air Force contract will spark Northrop Grumman Corp. to create as many as 300 new jobs -- many of them in engineering -- at its Melbourne International Airport facility in Florida. The contract to equip 17 Joint-STARS spy planes with more efficient engines is one of several keeping the Brevard County defense and aviation industries healthy despite the slumping economy.
