France shows good GDP growth on expanding exports

French exports rose 3.1% in the year's opening quarter despite a global downturn, driving higher investment and lifting the country's overall economic growth by 0.6%. The official statistical agency also revised its GDP figure for 2007 from 1.9% to 2.1%, compared to 2.4% in 2006. Economists said the data contained signs of a coming slowdown in Europe's second largest economy.
