M&A activity picks up as credit crisis settles down

Mergers and acquisitions are starting to pick up, even as the credit markets and economy remain on unstable footing. "Now that things have settled down, people are getting out there again," said Scott Willis, a lawyer specializing in M&A at the law firm Fishman Haygood Phelps Walmsley Willis & Swanson. There has been a marked shift, however, with corporate buyers in the driver's seat on most recent deals.
