Obesity linked to increased risk of psychiatric disorders

A new study on data from more than 40,000 Americans found obese adults were up to twice as likely as normal-weight adults to suffer from depression, anxiety and other psychiatric conditions. The lead researcher said the findings indicate it may be useful to screen obese patients for mental health problems.
