Parents of children with disabilities use foundation to assist others

A Maryland couple whose two children were diagnosed with a rare disability created a nonprofit foundation to help children with disabilities in their native country of South Africa. The Robert and Claire Peter Foundation honors the couple's son, who died in 1999, and their daughter, Claire, 22. It provides medical and school equipment and other donations solicited from individuals and institutions in the Baltimore area to a partner group in Johannesburg, where it is distributed to those in need.
