NBCT uses hands-on activities, singing to help students learn

A National Board Certified Teacher in Indiana uses body movements, singing and hands-on activities to engage her third-graders in classroom lessons. Students also work collaboratively, participate in role play and write in journals. Songs help students remember academic lessons, Amanda Jez said, and the journals help promote discussion. "It's hard for kids to get up and talk but if they have that journal in front of them it's very helpful and they rise to the challenge," she said.
