BASF eyes new plant; OPX, Evonik team up

BASF plans to build a plant to produce sugar-based 1,4-butanediol using technology licensed from California's Genomatica. In other news, OPX Biotechnologies has teamed up with Evonik Industries to create specialty chemicals using OPX Bio's microbe engineering process. OPX Bio has partnered with Dow Chemical in the past to boost its bio-based acrylic acid production.
